1. "Condoms prevent minivans. True story bro." - My friend Tim
Maybe it's because his logical is completely justified and not just the fact that I thought it was hilariously brilliant but I had to include this in the junkyard!
2. "I made you dinner."
"That's a Subway sandwich...."
"Yeah! But I made the effort, that gets me something right?"
"Celibate and blue."
"Harsh."
More amazing dialogue from my daily life that needed to be included. The hilarity and sarcasm always seems to find a way into my writing and I know realize that's because I'm submerged up to my eyeballs in it.
3. "You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose." -My mom
My mother's logic is awesome and I feel the need to share.
4. "A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others." - Ayn Rand
I thought this was appropriate for class and I like the message. If your desire is to beat others than what you are producing it not from a aesthetic desire, only a greedy one.
5. "I hope that I may always desire more than I can accomplish." - Michelangelo
He supposedly wasn't a very nice man but he was a smart one.

Random Impulse
Second of Week 12
This was a piece I deleted from a story I've been writing for awhile now. I keep getting stuck on this particular part and instead of scrapping it I figured I would put it to use on my blog.
-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
Taryn Archer startled awake, sitting up straight in his bed before his eyes even had time to open. He was gasping for air as his shoulder burned with excruciating pain and his mind put together the nightmare that had just awakened him.
Vincent had finally made his move. Taryn knew he was going to eventually. The murders were leading up to something; he just never knew he was going to go to such an extreme. Vincent had just infected a human. A woman… And for whatever reason Mother Nature decided to bind her to his pack. He could feel the pain of her wound, it was mirrored on his own flesh. It was the neuropsychological connection between them that made it possible. I was a power that distinguished him as alpha.

One of Week 12
This is just me playing with dialogue. I thought it would be interesting.

“Hi.”
“Hello.”
“How are you today?”
“I’ve had better days but this one is by far not the worst I’ve ever had.”
“That’s a strange way to put it.”
“I know. I’m deep like that. How are you today?”
“Perfect.”
“You’re extremely annoying with your optimism.”
“Yes. Well, you are also annoying with your pessimism.”
“Obviously you would say that. You aren’t creative enough to come up with something on your own.”
“You say that, but you don’t really mean it.”
“How do you know whether or not I mean it?”
“Because I can see the way your eyes are dilating.”
“You can tell whether or not I’m lying because of my eyes?”
“Yes.”
“Weird.”
“How is that weird? It’s science!”

E. L. Doctorow - Willi
This story made me want to claw my eyes out after the first three pages. Until we discussed the story in class I could not have told you when was happening because my brain refused to process what I was reading. Doctorow's writing style is so poetic it made me work way to hard to understand what was going on. The class discussion really filled me in a gave me a much better understanding of what I had read. I went back to reread it after the class discussion and I was able to actually enjoy it the second time. The randomness of it didn't seem quite so random and the bipolar-ness of it didn't seem so meaningless. The only issue with rereading it after the class discussion is getting past the first page. Once you get the whole masturbation innuendo it's hard not to laugh and read it to every person that will listen to see if they understand... Childish? Yes. I know. But damn, it's so much fun.

Junkyard Quotes Week 12
1. "It's better to be judge by twelve then carried by six." -Sherrilyn Kenyon in Invincible
This quote really stood out to me when I was reading the book. It took me a second but once it clicked it stayed.
2. "Meth is death... Death is on meth!" -Sherrilyn Kenyon again
You would really have to read the book to understand just how funny this really is. Kenyon has a way with humor that tickles me.
3. "That's her sad face." - Adam
"Oh, good to know. I thought she was going to vomit on me." - Me
I said it, but I didn't really think it through that well. Once I thought about it, I realized how silly it sounded.
4. "Pop-out penis!" - An author at the convention
A published author said this during the What Women Want workshop I was a part of. She said that every book she read about a man that supported the heroine and did he own laundry she wished it had a pop out penis... It was SO unexpected. I don't think I'm ever going to be able to get this out of my head.
5. "A were-swan? What kind of fluffy bunny, my little pony, blowing bubbles in the middle of a flowery meadow kind of shit it that!" - An audience member at the What Women Want convention
Another random outburst that stuck with me. I hope that my writing will stick with people the way these quotes have.

Random Impulse
Second of Week #10
The name means nothings, just the like discontented facial expression through the glass. Nothing was going to motivate me to move the ass from this spot. Curled up, content and comfortable. She can cram those carrots right up there. She hadn't cleaned in weeks, everywhere I stepped it I got my own feces squished between my toes and it was starting to get closer and closer to the bed. I know it's partly my fault for spreading it around, but if she would actually clean than I wouldn't have to track my dirty feet everywhere. I can't even get any exercise because any air current would make the smell a million times worse. So not only was I covered in my own poop and tortured with the macabre smell but I was only getting fat. It wasn't even winter time yet! I swear, if she sticks a hand in the tank without the intent to clean it out I'll add a few fingers to the decor... I mean the leave she could do is give me some more cotton balls... How a human can neglect something weighted in grams that is named Snowball is beyond me.
