1. "Do you want a Coke? I want a Coke. If we get Cokes then we can be on coke like that guy!" -Me
-Again, Gertrude Stein in invading my insults...
2. "So you would go to jail for five years or leave the U.S. forever for ten million dollars but you wouldn't throw your cat off a cliff for ten million dollars? How does that make sense?"... "I'm a vegetarian."
3. "What you're finished changing, you're finished." - Benjamin Franklin
- I thought this was appropriate for what we've been talking about in class.
4. "Blood makes the crops grow." -Merry Gentry
-LKH is a genius (or at least was six books ago) and this is why!
5. "Hatred paralysis life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it." -MLK, Jr.
- I love this quote but all I want to do is flip it.

Random Impulse
First Impulse of Week #5
I've hit a weird Catholic/religious point in my poetry... I guess it's just really easy to write about religion in general. Just bare with me.

Unholy Clergy
The Episcopal zombies bless their victims
Before partaking in the feasts
A papacy measured by severed limbs.
Undead Bishops count the shrieks with tainted rosary beads,
Hungrily partaking in the blood and body of the present Christ.
Cadaverous hordes paint the Sistine with Protestants,
Bathing Genesis in a putrid red.
------------------------------------
I'd like this to be longer but my brain shut down after thinking about Genesis. Any ideas?

Reading Response Week #4
First Reading Response of Week #4
In response to Mark Halliday's "Dorie Off to Atlanta". I liked this in class exercise, I found it extremely entertaining to write a one sided conversation... especially since Adam and I have such interesting ones. But I found it extremely easy. I like doing it but there is no challenge in it at all. I keep reading "Dorie Off to Atlanta" to see if I am missing the bigger picture or the underlying message but I can't find one. Writing a one sided conversation doesn't give me a satisfying feeling (like writing my book) because it is something anyone can do and do well. A kid in first grade could do the same thing with very little challenge. In an unfairly harsh way I find it crazy that Halliday can get published for something so simple... I know all of his stuff is not like this but still... It's just shocks me. But since this exercise was so easy for me I started using it to help me free write. Usually I edit my poems in my head so they are never very long and I will never touch them again once I'm "finished" but this helps me get a lot on the paper so I can contract later. It has not yielded anything I would claim yet but I'm crossing my fingers anyways.

Classmate Response Week #4
This is in response for Joshua West's Imagine
This is one of those writings where you are taken on a roller coaster ride as it goes on. After reading a little bit you never expect to end up where it actually ends. I like that about this piece. It drags you down with the character in the beginning. Almost makes you feel like you have some kind of an emotional connection with him so when he is finally about to fight the father the reader has that "woo hoo" response. But at the end you get dragged back into that dark depressing place.... I like the fact that it gets an emotional response out of me. But I felt like I needed to go eat a gallon of ice cream and watch Disney movies to make myself less depressed when I finished. Which really amuses me because I find the Hannibal-P.S. part at the end absolutely hilarious! Joshua goes from that dark and depressed place to cracking Hannibal the Cannibal jokes. I would like to see the his humor come out in the sister-half-to-come. I think that would help balance out the gloom in the beginning and make the work even more of a dramatic roller coaster ride.

Second Random Impulse from week #4
This is a revision of the "Wedding Night" poem I posted earlier... I suck at revision. This is probably only the second poem I have ever revised in my life. Poetry is painful enough the first time so I usually never touch it again... so yeah, here goes nothing!

His Puritan hands caress her ivory body
Fingers entangling in her sunshine curls
Her crimson lips taste of innocent lily flowers
As moans send sweet ripples through his core
Her lacking pain sang of her tainted damnation
Illuminating her Elizabethan burial gown
Absent is the pure commitment stain
Leaving her no more than an episcopal whore
Spelling abomination with the A sewn upon her breasts
Her porcelain blues glisten with trepidation
As Leviticus publicly hung her for the vile temptation.

Junkyard Quotes Week #4
1. " 'Hot' as a synonym for 'sexy' is less common from people who've been on fire." -Oglaf
2. "I don't want to disrespect the dead, but if alive, that guy's a cunt." -Oglaf
Oglaf is probably the most feminist, most disturbing wed comic I have ever come across... but I strangely have fallen in love with it in a very sick and twisted way that makes me question my sanity... but it is just that awesome. These quotes just demonstrate a minimal amount of this girls amazing brain. And yes, it is a girl.
3. "You're failing so much you fail at failure." - Me
Gertrude Stein is now making her presence know in my everyday insults/sarcasm. It amused me so I figured I'd share.
3. “Every religion in the world that has destroyed people is based on love” -Anton LaVey
I'm not quoting LaVey be I agree with his religious views, I'm quoting him because I think he was a very intelligent man. He went against the norm of society and created something from the ground up that he wholeheartedly believed in. It makes it so everything I learn about him, everything I learn about his way of thinking is completely alien to me. Not that I believe in what he says or agree with it, it just makes me think. I want my work to make people think and give them a new experience/thought they haven't had before.
4. "I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat." - Rebecca West
Just some feminism spice for my blog!
5. "You're cat's name is Drillbit? Really? I've been calling him Diesel Nut this whole time." -Roommate

Random Impulse
First Random Impulse from Week #4
So this isn't exactly a "random" impulse because it's I wrote in class today... but I figured I could get away with it anyways. Go me.

The Gamer's Fiance:
So this isn't exactly a "random" impulse because it's I wrote in class today... but I figured I could get away with it anyways. Go me.
------------------------------------------
The Gamer's Fiance:
Hey Baby! What are you doing?
Huh? What did you say?
Will you stop shooting people for five seconds and talk to me.
And take me off speaker too
It makes you sounds like you’re in a cave five-hundred feet aw-
I’m doing wonderful!
How are you, my love?
What…
You invited her over for dinner?
Have you even opened the refrigerator today?
Have you even opened the refrigerator today?
Yeah, exactly.
What were you planning to feed her?
Hard cider and port wine cheese?
That’s not even funny,
Well maybe just a little…
So you stopped shooting people but now you’re
Flying your drake through Stormwind?
Yes, I know you’re excited you can finally do it.
Yes, I’ll do a dungeon with you when I get home
IF
You go pick up food for dinner.
She is your mother.
Deal.
But you are totally tanking.
Fine, fine.
I’m going to beat you.
Yeah, well that is what you get for inviting your mom over.
Love you too – Feed the cats!
I can hear Drillbit’s “I’m hungry” meow.
I don’t care of you are pwning a rogue that stealthed you,
Do it now. Now. You still haven’t done it!
I know, but I also know you still haven’t done it yet.
Okay, bye!
